Course Content

Picking up from last semester, students will learn the perfect system, both in the active and passive, third declension nouns and adjectives, subordinate and conditional clauses, adverbs, the locative case, and much more. This semester, with their expanding grammatical knowledge, students will also do quite a bit more reading. Toward the end of the semester, they should expect that most of their time will be spent working through readings from original Latin authors.

Students should expect to spend approximately 30 minutes/day outside of class reviewing material and practicing their vocabulary, grammar, and reading skills.

Materials

Online Classroom
Students will have access to an online classroom, which will contain not only the work for the week, but also additional resources and content for them to engage with, both alone and with their classmates online. Students will receive access to the online classroom about a week prior to the start of class.

Office Hours
I will hold “office hours” weekly online over Zoom on Monday evenings from 5-5:30 PM. Students will receive information for my meeting room the first day of class.

We will be using the text Learn to Read Latin (LTRL) along with its workbook as our primary resources. Students should purchase both the text and workbook.* While LTRL is more expensive than some texts, it is one of the best Latin resources on the market for helping students obtain thorough grammatical knowledge and for offering rapid introduction to and competence with original texts. This text will be used for multiple semesters.

Note* I have one used copy of the LTRL text for sale for $40. Please contact me at lauren@linguasantiquas.com if you are interested in purchasing it.

Supplemental learning resources will be provided.
